BELATED THANKSGIVING

I apologize for my absence recently, I've been out of town for a while and have had virtually no internet access.

Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving.

Because I don't live in the US anymore, I rarely celebrate thanksgiving. I guess I thank God everyday for everything I have in my life so there's not a huge need to put one day aside for it. A lot of people, me included sometimes don't realise how much we have, and how lucky we are to have it. There's always someone who has it worse than we do, and if nothing else, we should be thankful that we have something - no matter what it is.

I'm thankful for my girl, my family, my friends, my house, the clothes I wear, the fact that I have a roof over my head and food to eat, I'm thankful for my job, for the people I say hi to walking down the street, for the nikes I put on every day and the 10 miles I run, for my health, my happiness and for the people I love and who love me.

Make every day Thanksgiving.

FATE

Do you believe in fate? Do you believe that everything happens for a reason and that there's nothing we can do to change it? Or do you believe that the decisions we make can change our fate?

I believe in fate.

Until around 5/6 months ago I didn't. I was half and half. I didn't believe in fate but I didn't not believe in it. I just never really gave it any thought. It's a pretty difficult issue to deal with because we're never going to know 100% whether fate does exist or not, we just have to choose to believe or not. It's kind of similar to religion. We don't know 100% whether God exists or not. We can either choose to believe he does, or he doesn't. Neither is right or wrong, it's just our beliefs.

Anyway, I do believe 1 million % in fate. There is a very specific reason why. It's quite a long story but I'll do my best to cut it down.
About 6 months ago, something happened that impacted my life greatly. It was an event that I had dreamed of, but never thought it would happen to me. It was everything I ever wanted and it is something that I'll never forget and will tell my grand kids about when I'm old and gray.  There were plans leading up to this event that didn't happen. When I found out those plans weren't going to happen, I was pretty gutted. I felt sorry for myself and wondered why all the bullshit always happens to me. Anyway, I was forced to change my plans. If I hadn't changed my plans, the life changing event I experienced wouldn't have happened. If I went through with my original plans, it wouldn't have happened. I believe it was my destiny for that event to happen and fate intervened and made it happen.

So basically, when your life seems like shit and you always ask 'why me?' just sit back and relax because whatever is meant to happen, will happen.

Let fate take over.

TREAT HER RIGHT

I pride myself on treating my girl right. Not to big myself up here, but there aren't many guys out there with the old fashioned manners I have. And I'm proud of that.

I open the door for my girl, I carry her gazillion shopping bags for her, I walk on the outside of the pavement when I'm with her, I hold her hand when we walk down the street together, I protect her, I hold her when we're asleep and I'm there for her through all the shit the world throws at us.

I see so many guys not give a shit about the girl they're with, or if they do give a shit they have a very strange way of showing it. Girls like to be taken care of - they might not admit it but they do. I'm in love with my girl and I'm happy to say that I show it.

It's the kind of love where you love everything about the person you're with, even the parts they hate about themselves. I love everything about my girl, and I treat her the way any decent guy should treat a girl.

I think I've shown enough of my 'sensitive' side today, so I'm now going to drink some whiskey and beer like any man should - with my girl.

THROW IT AWAY

About 8/9 months ago I gave up drinking soda. I just threw it away one day and I haven't looked back since.

I was pretty addicted to any kind of fizzy juice - coke, irn bru, anything you can name. I drank it every day without fail and didn't think anything wrong with it at all.
I take good care of myself. I eat right, I exercise and I'm in good shape. Drinking soda on an unhealthy regular basis was the only thing I done that wasn't necessarily good for me. Obviously, there is a lot wrong with it but the issues soda gives you didn't spring to my mind because everyone drinks it so it can't be that bad, right? Wrong.

When coca cola was first introduced it contained an estimated nine milligrams of cocaine per glass. Check the back of your bottle in ingredients you'll see vegetable extracts - coca cola still contains coca flavouring. I don't know about you but I'm not interested in taking lines of cocaine, so why would I want to drink it in my juice? As well as this, soda also increases your risk of obesity, makes your teeth fall out - eventually, and get you addicted to caffeine. Essentially, you are poisoning your body. And, sorry to disappoint you, but diet sodas aren't any better.

Just think about it for a second. Look at the colour of a glass of coke. It's brown. What the fuck are they putting in there to make it that colour? Throw it away. I can guarantee you will feel happier and healthier with yourself. It might take time, but you'll get there.

Once you've given it up, you can't go back. You'll lose the taste for it. Sit in front of me a glass of water and a glass of coke, and I'll take the water every single time.
